Alex Lowes has been declared fit to compete in this weekend’s WorldSBK event in Hungary (July 25-27) after being withdrawn from the race at Donington two weeks ago. Lowes was leading the first race at Donington when he crashed at the notorious Craner Curve. He was taken to the medical center on Saturday afternoon, where he was diagnosed with a left ankle injury and was deemed unfit to race the following morning due to worsening symptoms.

Following his recovery and assessment in Hungary, Lowes has now been cleared by WorldSBK officials to participate, starting from Friday morning’s FP1 session. Speaking at Balaton, Lowes expressed hope to race without issues, focusing mainly on enjoying the experience with Team 22 and seeing what they can achieve.

He also commented on the anticipation surrounding the Balaton Park Circuit, which is hosting its first World Superbike round this weekend. He noted the track’s unique layout, featuring slower chicanes and generally lower top speeds, making the races potentially exciting. Since it’s a new circuit for all riders, he emphasized the importance of Friday’s sessions to get familiar with it.

Lowes aims to maintain the positive momentum gained in recent rounds at KB998 and is optimistic about continuing that progress in Balaton.

Fan Take: This update is significant for racing fans as it marks the return of a strong competitor, Alex Lowes, which could shake up the WorldSBK standings. Additionally, the debut of the Balaton Park Circuit adds fresh excitement and new challenges to the championship, potentially ushering in a new era of thrilling races.
