Graeme McDowell is making a spell with Liv Golf UK but can start a TV career

Graeme McDowell finished just one top-10 finish on the Liv Golf circuit this year, admitting to the UK golf site that he is serious about jumping into the world of media when his fledgling league play day is nearing the end.

In fact, McDowell said his appetite was officially hett during the 2025 Open Championship a week later with Sky Sports’ Mike and R&A’s “World Feed” coverage.

“Is there a TV in my future? Potentially, when I was playing golf, it was always something I wanted to dip my toes to see if I liked it or not. And last week it was a way to tip it a bit and see if there was anything there,” he told Bunker.

“First and foremost. I mean, surrounded by people like Ewan Murray and Nick Dougherty and Andrew Cotter and Ken Brown, I have earned a clear appreciation for the skill level involved in being so, so great.”

McDowell returned to the other side of MIC at Liv Golf UK this week.

After finding something thick on the par 4 No. 11th hole at JCB Golf & Country Club, the 2010 US Open winner showed creativity around the green as he threw the ball on the slope and returned several inches below the cup.

McDowell, now 45, has signed a one-year contract with Smash GC’s Brookskoepka team, but he is looking for next year in terms of relegation. The Northern Irish are 32nd in the LIV ranking and will need to be in the top 24 in the next three events to secure the spot in 2026.

Naturally, he keeps his future options open.

“I was suddenly dumped after saying I finished Liv at the end of the year, what do I do? I’ll go back to a year’s European tour and take up one of my year’s membership and exemptions there? McDowell told Bunkered. “It really depends on how I feel, how I feel about my game, how my health is, what my health is like, what the world looks like from a media perspective.”

“I keep talking to some of these media outlets and maybe to prepare myself, as you know, I feel like I know a lot of these guys well. I give a year or two to see if I like it or not.

“I’ve never done any real work before, so I don’t know how I’ll handle it.”
