Wheelchair tennis has returned to the US Open after taking a break at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris last year.

The US Tennis Association announced the entry list for the upcoming US Open Wheelchair Championship, held at the USTA Billy Janking National Tennis Center from September 2nd to September 6th. The tournament marks the 20th anniversary of wheelchair tennis at the US Open.

These championships have grown so much over the years, adding the Quad Division in 2007, and later became the first major of four majors to hold the junior wheelchair division in 2022 with both boys and girls singles and doubles.

The US has six players on the field, while the Netherlands has the most number with nine.

British Alfie Hewette will compete for the third straight men’s American open title on the field featuring Wimbledon champion Toki Toda.

Diede de Groot from the Netherlands can become the most won women’s champion by winning her seventh straight single title. She is currently associated with Esther Alf Vergeer, who retired in 2013.
