Wrexham has reportedly made a bold move for Christian Eriksen, the former Manchester United midfielder, according to his agents.

However, ESPN sources indicate that the reporting on this approach may be imprecise.

Eriksen, a 144-cap international from Denmark, is set to become a free agent this summer and has established himself as one of the premier playmakers in the Premier League over the last decade, with over 300 appearances for Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford, and most recently Manchester United.

This potential signing would be a significant step for Wrexham, who are gearing up for their first season in the second tier of British football, now under the ownership of Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Martin Schutz, Eriksen’s agent, expressed to the Daily Mail that Wrexham is “a very impressive project,” but emphasized that “Christian still aims to compete at the highest levels and is keen to remain in Western Europe.”

“Negotiations are ongoing, but a mutual fit is essential,” he added.

Nevertheless, ESPN’s sources are cautious about the validity of the transfer news.

Eriksen, who has also played for Ajax and Inter Milan, departed United last month after appearing in 23 league matches last season.

Postal service Interest in Eriksen has also surfaced from clubs in Saudi Arabia, the US, Turkey, and Brazil.

Since their promotion to the championship, Wrexham has already secured signings including goalkeeper Danny Ward, striker Ryan Hardy, midfielder Louis O’Brien, George Thomason, left-back Revert Case, and midfielder Josh Windus.

They are set to launch their 2025-26 campaign against Southampton on August 9th.

This report utilizes information from Tom Hamilton at ESPN.

Fan Take: This news is significant for soccer fans as it highlights Wrexham’s ambition in the competitive landscape of English football. If Eriksen joins, it could not only elevate the team’s performance but also draw more attention to the league, showcasing the exciting potential of lower-division clubs.
