Angel Reese Overcomes Injuries Following Storm’s Defeat

Angel Reese’s interview came on the same evening the Chicago Sky suffered their worst loss of the season—a 95-57 defeat to the Seattle Storm at Winostreana on Thursday night. The Sky were thoroughly dominated by the Storm throughout the game, marking their largest margin of defeat this year with a 38-point gap.

Reese entered the game day under a cloud of injury uncertainty due to a back issue. Although the 23-year-old appeared fine in Tuesday’s game against the Minnesota Lynx, the precise timing of her injury remains unclear. Ultimately, the Sky decided to play it safe by sitting Reese out against the Storm.

After the game, Sky head coach Tyler Marsh addressed Reese’s condition, revealing that she was experiencing considerable pain but did not want to aggravate the back issue further. Marsh said, “Angel is day-to-day. It hurts quite a bit this morning, so I didn’t want to risk it since it’s a back issue. We’ll see how she feels on Sunday.” This suggests Reese’s injury isn’t severe, and she could be ready to play in Sunday’s key game against the Indiana Fever, Chicago’s main rival.

Unfortunately, Caitlin Clark, who was injured, is not expected to return soon, as her recovery from a groin injury is taking longer than hoped.

Fan Take: For WNBA fans, Angel Reese’s potential return is a beacon of hope for the Chicago Sky as they try to bounce back from a heavy loss. Her health and performance will be pivotal in this season’s playoff race, highlighting the importance of player wellness in maintaining competitive balance in the league.
