WASHINGTON – Naomi Osaka and coach Patrick Mouratogro have been working together less than a year later, the four-time Grand Slam champion announced on social media on Sunday.
“Merci Patrick,” Osaka began posting her with a photo of her performing a practice serve while standing nearby. “It was such a great experience to learn from you. I wish you only the best. You are one of the coolest people I have ever met and I am sure I will meet you.”
The news comes three days before Osaka lost its second match at the DC Open and competed in Toronto. The US Open, the last major tournament of the year and the event that Osaka won twice, will begin on August 24th in New York.
Osaka hired Mouratoglu, a longtime coach for Serena Williams.
Former number one Osaka is currently ranked 51st and has a record of 21-11 this season.
She hasn’t passed the third round of the Grand Slam tournament since winning the 2021 Australia Open.
