Despite facing challenges this season with the Las Vegas Aces, where the team holds a 13-13 record after 26 games, A’ja Wilson remains a strong leader both on and off the basketball court. The WNBA has appointed Wilson, a star player for the Aces, as the Jr. WNBA’s inaugural global ambassador. As a two-time champion and three-time MVP, she leads initiatives aimed at inspiring and empowering young girls through basketball, leadership, and community engagement.

Wilson will represent the Jr. WNBA at key NBA and WNBA events, participating in on-court coaching as well as off-court programs that focus on building confidence, health, and personal growth. Additionally, she serves as a strategic advisor to the NBA/Jr. WNBA Leader’s Court. The Jr. WNBA program targets girls aged 5 to 17, encouraging them to stay involved in basketball and sports overall. Having once doubted her own future in basketball, Wilson now aims to help the next generation realize what is possible.

“If I can show them what’s achievable and make their dreams feel real, then I’ve done my job,” Wilson said.

Candice Hyams of the Liberty praised Wilson’s influence and dedication, calling her “a true champion on and off the court.” During the All-Star Weekend, Wilson and other WNBA players will lead clinics and vision board workshops for over 100 girls, hoping to leave a lasting motivational impact.

“I want to see one of these girls take my place one day,” Wilson shared.

With Wilson at the helm, the Jr. WNBA is not only developing athletes but also nurturing future leaders.
