Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe stated that ongoing transfer rumors surrounding striker Alexander Isak will not distract his players as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League season.
Isak had an impressive season last year, netting 23 league goals, and he continued his strong performance during Newcastle’s Asian preseason tour, ranking second in goals scored with 29, just behind Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, the Golden Boots winner.
The 25-year-old Swedish international joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 and has found the net 62 times in 109 matches across all competitions.
Following Newcastle’s 3-2 defeat to Arsenal in Singapore, Howe remarked that the tour is “normal business” for the players.
“When you participate in these tours, it’s essential to focus on preparation rather than distractions. The next match is extremely important, and we need to be well-prepared,” he noted.

“We must put forth our best efforts, and naturally, we will miss Alex’s exceptional talent. The team acknowledges that,” Howe stated.
“I can’t claim the players are unaffected by this situation, but they are highly professional and are managing it as best as possible.”
Newcastle, who qualified for the Champions League after finishing fifth in the Premier League last season, will face the K-League XI in Korea next on Wednesday.
