Leicester aims to build a team that can instantly return to the Premier League for the 2026-27 season, and to do this, she may need to sign a new starting goalkeeper. Mads Hermansen has been attracting a lot of attention from West Ham in recent weeks, and if he leaves, he will need a replacement.
If Hermansen leaves, Leicester wants to secure a significant fee. And some of the money raised will go towards the new number one that could come from Man City.
Leicester registers interest in Man City goalkeeper Stephen Ortega
According to Ben Jacobs (via Leicester’s Fox), Leicester is one of the fascinating clubs to sign Stephen Ortega. The German goalkeeper is also on Burnley’s radar. Burnley could need a new start number one in the near future.
Ortega is expected to leave Man City for the imminent return of James Trafford, who will re-sign from Burnley. In this regard, the 32-year-old should be able to use with a lower price, especially considering that he has less than 12 months left on his contract at Etihad Stadium.
Ortega, who has made 56 appearances for Man City in three seasons, is sure to be a great addition to Leicester’s team for the championship, but there are certainly doubts as to whether he wants to drop the division, especially when Burnley is there for him as well.
For now, it is still unclear whether Leicester will make Ortega’s move, but the desire to do so could depend on Hermansen leaving in the coming weeks.
