Ex-Champion Speaks Out: “If I Led WorldSBK, I’d Make Jake Dixon a Priority”

Sylvain Guintoli believes that the World Superbikes teams should consider signing Jake Dixon. Dixon, currently a Moto2 rider, is strongly linked with a potential move to Honda in the World Superbike Championship in 2026. Guintoli, the 2014 WorldSBK champion, emphasized the possibility of this switch during an interview with TNT Sports.

Guintoli noted that many Moto2 riders are reaching an age where moving up to MotoGP becomes challenging. While he doesn’t rule out a MotoGP future for Dixon, Guintoli thinks a transition to WorldSBK is more likely. He highlighted that WorldSBK offers strong factory teams and suggested that Dixon’s next step depends on his own decision.

When asked at Brno about a potential move to WorldSBK, Dixon didn’t deny the possibility, saying he is currently focused on his present commitments but is open to what the future may hold. Italian reports indicate that Dixon’s transfer to Honda is expected to be officially announced soon.

At 29 years old, Dixon has spent seven years in Moto2 without a call-up to MotoGP. This year, emerging talents like Diogo Moreira and Manuel Gonzalez are more likely to secure MotoGP rides for 2026, making a switch to another championship an appealing chance for Dixon to compete for a top title.

WorldSBK is currently searching for a replacement for Toprak Razgatlioglu next season, and Ducati may need a backup option for Alvaro Bautista. Meanwhile, Jonathan Rea’s future with Yamaha is uncertain, and Danilo Petrucci is also available for new team opportunities.

Fan Take: This potential move is a big deal for racing enthusiasts because it highlights the evolving career paths for talented riders like Dixon. Bringing fresh talent into WorldSBK not only shakes up the competition but also keeps the sport dynamic and exciting for fans, signaling a new era of contenders on the grid.
