Ibrahima Conate has been linked to a move away from Liverpool in recent weeks.
The 26-year-old will become a free agent next summer, and Liverpool has not been able to agree to a new contract with him. Real Madrid wants to secure his signature, but they will have to wait until next summer to get the deal done.
Real Madrid is confident in getting the deal done
According to a report by Defensa Central, the Spanish outfit wanted to sign players this summer for a fee of around 25 million euros, but Liverpool will not sanction the departure. They tried to negotiate a new contract with the French International, but the defenders are disappointed with the offer from the Premier League champions.
The report further claims he is “crazy” to join Real Madrid next summer, with the Spanish outfit appearing to suck on the move during the January transfer period where players can negotiate with foreign clubs.
Florentino Perez is optimistic about completing the transaction, and manager Xabi Alonso has already given approval.
Ibrahima Conate’s exit will be a major blow
Liverpool reportedly resigned to lose him next summer, and it remains to be seen how things will develop. The 26-year-old is one of the best defenders in the Premier League, and his departure will be a devastating blow to Liverpool, especially with a free transfer. They recently lost Trent Alexander Arnold to Real Madrid on a free transfer, and they don’t want history to repeat itself.
It will be interesting to see if they can convince French International to sign a new deal at the club. They should try to offer him a contract in favour of him. He is undoubtedly one of the best players at the club and he could potentially become the leader of Liverpool’s backline in the near future.
