He was already welcoming Granite Zaka from Sunderland’s Bayer Lebakusen, and is reportedly one of the frontrunners to sign another Bundesliga winner this summer.
Xhaka is “pride” to be in Sunderland.
Sunderland’s Summer summed up the welcome this week of Zakha caliber. This is the ultimate statement from a newly promoted aspect, the type that shows that you are not just asking first, but also intends to do more than just survive.
The former Arsenal man, who won the undefeated Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen in the 2023/24 season, will join the list of income at the impressive summer business light stadiums, with things like Simon Adingra and Habib Diala.
After returning to the Premier League for the first time since leaving Arsenal in 2023, Xhaka told Sunderland’s official website:I’m very proud to be here.
“When I spoke to the club, I was excited and felt the energy and mentality that all the people and players have, that was exactly what I wanted and I feel very good.
“We want to go back to where this club is needed and stay here to write our own history. I feel ready to help the team with quality in my experience as well.

Who will add the Black Cats record?
“We need to find ourselves on the pitch, but I don’t think this will be a big problem. The wait has been a long way, but I’m here and looking forward to it.”
That being said, one Bundesliga may not be enough to satisfy the Black Cat this summer. According to recent reports, they are also currently one of the final transners to sign players Xhaka already knows well.
Sunderland Frontrunner signs Amin Adri
According to TeamTalk, Sunderland is currently on the forefront of signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Amine Adli along with Wolverhampton Wanderers. Prior to West Ham United, both clubs are reportedly the most active in the race to sign the 25-year-old Bundesliga award-winner ahead of next season.
Despite already welcoming by Adinra and Kemshin Talbi to enhance their sides, Sunderland is now aiming for more experienced options, with those who can provide ample coverage if both Adingra and Talbi are selected for AFCON missions midway through next season.
League statistics 24/25 (via FBREF) | Justice | Adlinra |
---|---|---|
Min | 766 | 1,097 |
the goal | 2 | 2 |
assist | 0 | 2 |
Take-ons around 90 were successful | 1.76 | 1.72 |
Adli’s output definitely needs to be improved, but he stands out as the type of winger who can intervene in Adingra when AFCON arrives. His take-on successes in particular represent a player who has no final product but can make something from nothing as things stand.
Leverkusen Sporting Director called “very agile” by Simon Rolfes, 25 years old – at a reasonable price – is another impressive signature by the Black Cat. However, it remains to be seen whether they defeated the wolves in the race for his signature.
