Liverpool has no plans to submit a second bid for Alexander Isak, according to the striker himself after Newcastle United declined their initial offer.

Earlier on Friday, Arne Slot’s squad made an offer totaling £110 million ($145 million), which falls short of Newcastle’s valuation of the player at £150 million ($107 million). The way Newcastle rejected the offer led Liverpool to believe that pursuing a second bid would be futile for now.

However, if Newcastle identifies a suitable replacement in the transfer market and shows willingness to part with Isak this summer, their position may shift.

The Swedish international is absent from Newcastle’s Asia tour due to a “minor injury” and is recuperating at the training facilities of his former club, Real Sociedad.

ESPN previously mentioned that Liverpool retains interest in Isak, despite having signed striker Hugo Ekitike for up to £79 million ($105 million). The potential sale of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich for £65.5 million ($49.5 million) could provide funds for such a deal.

Newcastle has consistently expressed its desire to keep Isak, their star striker.

He missed last weekend’s match against Arsenal and K-League XI, and he will also not participate in Sunday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur.

Since joining Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022, Isak has emerged as one of the most formidable forwards in the Premier League.

He scored 23 goals in 34 appearances last season, just trailing behind Mohamed Salah’s 29 goals in the Golden Boots race.

Isak’s winning goal against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final in March brought Newcastle its first domestic trophy in 70 years.

This news is significant for soccer fans as it illustrates the ongoing power dynamics within the Premier League, particularly around player valuations and transfer negotiations. Isak’s potential move—and the implications of Newcastle’s decision—could reshape the competitive landscape as clubs navigate their strategies for the upcoming seasons.
