Tom Ingram, the current leader of the British Touring Car Championship, expressed relief after finishing just behind his title rival Ash Sutton in a chaotic reverse grid race at Croft. Starting from second on the grid, Ingram quickly made a bold move around West Surrey Racing’s Aiden Moffat in the early corners.

The early battle for the lead saw some contact between Ingram and Moffat, resulting in the Hyundai driver dropping to third behind Sutton, who went on to win the race. Following a lengthy safety car period, Ingram managed to overtake Sutton again briefly but lost the position after Sutton executed an impressive double maneuver.

Ingram later settled into fourth place after Senna Proctor but capitalized on contact between Moffat and a teammate from the Vertu stable, which affected the battle for second place. Despite overtaking Proctor twice, Ingram was too far behind Sutton to mount a serious challenge for the win.

Reflecting on the race, Ingram said, "It was full of action from start to finish, and it was good to come out relatively unscathed." He acknowledged the disappointment of Sutton gaining points but noted their ability to set a fast lap and avoid major damage in what was a tough race.

Heading into the Knock Hill round, Ingram holds an eight-point lead over Sutton, setting the stage for an intense championship battle.

Fan Take: This thrilling race highlights the fierce competition and skill in the BTCC, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. The ongoing duel between Ingram and Sutton promises to elevate the excitement and showcase the best of touring car racing as the season progresses.
