Major League Soccer is set to welcome another international star, as Tottenham Hotspur hero and son of Korean superstar Heung-Min Son has finalized plans to join Los Angeles FC.
In a heartfelt press conference on Saturday, he announced his departure from Tottenham after a decade, bidding farewell to his teammates, the players from Newcastle, and nearly 65,000 fans at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.
The preseason friendly in Korea, which concluded 1-1, highlighted the emotional moment when he exited the field during his last match for Tottenham. The 33-year-old captain was surrounded by teammates as he took a seat on the bench, visibly moved.
He scored 173 goals in 454 matches for the London club but was unable to find the net in his final outing.
Notably, his signature “camera” celebration was used by Brennan Johnson, who scored early in the match against Tottenham.
