Harry Kane had a notable reunion with his old team, missing a penalty but still helping Bayern Munich secure a 4-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur at the Allianz Arena on Thursday.

The England striker, who concluded a 19-year relationship with Spurs when he moved to Bayern two summers ago, opened the scoring in the 12th minute thanks to a precise long pass from Michael Oris that found him behind the defense.

Just three minutes later, Kane had a chance to add to his tally.

Midfielder Joan Pargigna, playing his first match for Spurs after joining on loan from Bayern, was fouled in the penalty area by Josip Stanisic, leading to a penalty kick. However, Kane’s attempt flew over the crossbar.

Despite this error, it didn’t affect Bayern’s dominant performance in the friendly.

In the second half, Kingsley Coman, Renato Karl, and Jonah Kusiasale also scored, reinforcing Bayern’s preparation for defending their Bundesliga title, starting on August 22 against RB Leipzig.

“We need to stay focused. There’s still a lot of work ahead,” stated Bayern head coach Vincent Company. “The team is improving, and they are showing great progress.”

“I’m pleasantly surprised by our level of performance; I didn’t expect this,” he added.

This match was far from ideal for new Tottenham manager Thomas Frank, serving as the last preseason fixture ahead of their upcoming clash with Palisen German in Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup.

Fan Take: This result highlights the challenges that both clubs face as they gear up for their respective seasons. For soccer fans, Kane’s return to Spurs underscores the emotional ties players have with their former teams, while also raising questions about what this means for Tottenham’s future prospects.
