Arsenal forward Viktor Gyökeres netted his first goal for the club in a commanding 3-0 win against Athletic Club in a preseason friendly ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
Gyökeres joined Arsenal from Sporting CP for a fee of €63 million ($74 million) and made his debut in a 3-2 loss to Villarreal.
In the match against Athletic Club, he scored the opening goal before heading off the field 34 minutes later after receiving a precise cross from fellow new signing, Martín Zubimendi.
Just two minutes later, Arsenal extended their lead to 2-0 as Bukayo Saka connected with a cross from Gabriel Martinelli.
Gyökeres left the pitch to a warm reception in the 70th minute, replaced by Kai Havertz, who also scored, marking a successful day for Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Arsenal concluded their preseason with three victories and two losses against teams including Milan, Newcastle, Athletic Club, Tottenham, and Villarreal.
The Gunners kick off their Premier League campaign against Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 16 before returning to the Emirates for their first home match against Leeds on August 23.
