Newcastle is eager to sign a striker this summer. They have missed many targets in recent weeks and are now considering the slow moves of Nicholas Jackson, who is now on the fringe of the Chelsea first team.
Given that Joao Pedro and Liam Dellup have arrived to replace him, it is expected that they will leave Chelsea before the transfer window closes. But despite this, Chelsea has no plans to sell at a lower price for now.
Chelsea hopes £80 million to sell Newcastle’s target Nicholas Jackson
According to a football insider, Pete O’Rourke has confirmed that Chelsea is currently seeking £80 million from Jackson, but Newcastle may be able to negotiate a low price in the coming weeks.
“The arrival of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap will tell you everything you need to know. Maresca keeps the door open for Senegal International to move on.
“Chelsea have been actively working to get out of their way in recent weeks so if they get a big offer, they won’t get in the way of Jackson. But they seem to have a huge fee of around £80 million.
“I think the closer you get to the edge of the window, the lower that price tag could be. For Newcastle, he probably wasn’t at the top of the list at the start of the window, but he’s now on that list quite a bit.”
It remains to be seen whether Newcastle will make their move for Jackson, but they will need to do something soon in regards to their striker pursuit.
