Packers’ Jayden Reed Manages Sprained Feet with Expert Care, Source Reveals

Green Bay, Wisconsin – Jayden Reed has been added to the growing list of injured Green Bay Packers, particularly among the team’s wide receivers. Reed, who hasn’t practiced since Wednesday, was seen wearing a walking boot on his left foot during the Packers’ 30-10 loss to the New York Jets in their preseason opener at Lambeau Field.

Coach Matt LaFleur expressed cautious optimism, saying, “Hopefully we’ll get him back before the regular season,” but also acknowledged concerns, noting, “Potentially. Whenever I see a guy in his boots, I think that’s a concern.” According to sources speaking to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Reed is dealing with a sprained leg and experiences discomfort daily, though there’s no clear timeline for his return.

Reed, who has been the Packers’ primary receiver over the past two seasons, refrained from making any predictions about his recovery, stating, “I don’t want anything to go wrong, so I’m not going to be the one who says that.” The Packers were already missing key receivers in the game against the Jets: Christian Watson remains on the PUP list following ACL surgery in January, Dontayvion Wicks missed most of training camp due to a calf injury, and rookie Savion Williams, sidelined with a shoulder injury, didn’t participate in the game.

Additionally, starting cornerback Nate Hobbs (knee) and All-Pro safety Xavier McKinney (calf) are expected to miss the remainder of the preseason. Reed’s training camp has been inconsistent, beginning on the non-football injury list due to toe issues, followed by problems related to his footwear. However, he clarified that this latest injury was unrelated and occurred when he cut wrong during practice.

Reflecting on his season preparation, Reed admitted, “To be honest, I don’t really think I started. If you ask me, I don’t even think I’ve really started.” The Packers had a similarly rough night on Saturday, with quarterback Jordan Love and the starting offense struggling through two series, marked by seven offensive holding penalties (both called and declined) and four sacks allowed.

LaFleur indicated Love is unlikely to play further in the preseason but suggested he might push harder in practice. “Well, it was a humbling experience,” LaFleur admitted. “It’s not something we want to show. I don’t care about the preseason or the regular season. That has nothing to do with me. It was sloppy football.”
