Cam Norry was knocked out of the Cincinnati Open on Sunday following a straight set defeat to Roberto Bautista Agutt.
Sometimes during the contest, British No. 2 appeared to struggle in the hot conditions and was eventually beaten 6-4, 6-3.
Nolly’s final outing came at the Canadian Open. There he was beaten by Alexander Vkic in the second round.
His US open preparations continued in Cincinnati on Sunday, where he said goodbye to the second round, facing veteran Spanish Bautista Agutt, in the rematch of the first round clash at Wimbledon, which Norri won this summer.
Bautista Agut started brightly on the opening set, beating Nolly’s serve in the fourth game and did well to hold his serve after some long games.
Nolly was sweaty and visibly soaked in the eighth game, changing his shirt before Deuce, where he prevented Bautista Agut from robbing the set, eventually earning his first breakpoint in the next game.
However, in the 10th game he served as a double fault, allowing the Spaniards to beat the set and win.
In the second set, Nolly continued to look bad, but his brave performance kept him competitive as he saved four match points and clinched the eighth game despite three double obstacles.
