The Carolina Hurricanes’ journey must be viewed with context. During much of the 2010s, the team struggled, frequently missing the playoffs from 2010 to 2018, making postseason appearances seem out of reach. However, everything shifted when Rod Brind’Amour became head coach in 2018. Talsky commented on the rising standards, saying, “We’ve been raising bars every year, and now being among the final four teams can even feel disappointing. Of course, I want to push beyond that, but I’m much more satisfied with where we are now compared to just making it to the first round in past years.” With the recent signings of Nikolaj Ehlers and Kandre Miller, the team’s ambitions and expectations are reaching even greater heights.
