Prosecutors Decline to File Lawsuit Against Browns’ Rookie Running Back Quinshon Judkins

Broward County prosecutors have decided not to file charges against Cleveland Browns rookie Quinsion Judkins, who faced misdemeanor battery and domestic violence allegations. Judkins was taken into custody by Fort Lauderdale police on July 14 following a report about an incident near the city’s airport that reportedly happened a week earlier.

The case review memo highlighted multiple reasons for the decision, including delayed victim reports, absence of video proof, and lack of independent witnesses. It noted that although the victim had photos showing injuries, video footage from the same period did not show any visible harm. The injury photos could also be explained by one of the incident’s alternative accounts.

Judkins, who was the Browns’ only draft pick this year with the 36th overall selection, might still face disciplinary action under the NFL’s personal conduct policy. The 21-year-old running back rushed for 1,060 yards and scored 14 touchdowns at Ohio State last season. The Browns selected him hoping he could fill the lead role after Nick Chubb’s move to the Houston Texans. Cleveland also picked Dylan Sampson in the fourth round.

Fan Take: This development is crucial for Browns fans and NFL followers since it clears Judkins legally but keeps an eye on his conduct under league rules. How the Browns handle this situation could set a precedent for balancing talent acquisition with accountability in the sport.
