Stephanie White Shares Her Reaction to “Incredible” News from Fever Boss

Stephanie White reacts to the “incredible” announcement from Fever General Manager Amber Cox, originally reported by Athlon Sports.

Despite facing significant injury challenges, the Indiana Fever had reason to celebrate a recent milestone. The team continues to be without Caitlyn Clark due to a prolonged groin injury, with no return date set, and also lost backups Ahri MacDonald and Sydney Colson.

Amid these setbacks, on Monday, Amber Cox shared exciting news with the team involving franchise legend Lin Dunn, who now serves as the Fever’s senior advisor. Dunn, a respected figure in the WNBA, recently received the Inspiring Women’s Award, which Cox revealed will be renamed in her honor going forward.

Dunn, who dedicated over a decade to the Fever as an assistant and head coach, was celebrated in front of the entire team, with Clark giving her a heartfelt hug upon hearing the news. Stephanie White, who was part of Dunn’s coaching staff and took over as head coach in 2014, expressed great admiration for Dunn’s legacy.

“It was amazing,” White said with a smile. “Lin is a true legend and a foundational figure in women’s basketball. Amber’s announcement allows us to honor her incredible impact on the sport and the inspiration she provides to women everywhere.”

White, a 26-year WNBA veteran, profoundly respects Dunn’s contributions as both a coach and general manager—roles in which Dunn helped lead the Fever to their only championship in 2012 and served until 2024. The decision to name the Inspiring Women’s Award after Dunn is a fitting tribute to her lasting influence.
