Chelsea striker Nicholas Jackson has linked his move away from the club during the summer transfer.
The 24-year-old has struggled with game time at Chelsea this season and needs to move on in search of normal playing time. According to a report by Soccer Insider, Aston Villa and Newcastle United reportedly registered interest in signing players.
Jackson wants Aston Villa’s move
However, the report claims that the player has informed his friends that he wants to play for Aston Villa. It is still unknown how the situation will develop. Development will certainly be a blow to Newcastle, which is looking to improve its attacking units. They missed multiple targets this summer, but it is still unclear whether they can bring the necessary additions before the windows close.
Newcastle needs quality strikers
Newcastle is also keen to sign Goncaro Ramos and Joa Wissa. It would be interesting to see who they become. They could lose Alexander Isaac this summer, and they need to properly replace Swedish international. He made it clear that he would like to leave the club this summer and join Liverpool.
Jackson wasn’t a prolific goal scorer, but he’s a perfect step forward, creative and goal-stricken. He may have been a quality acquisition of Newcastle. It will be interesting to see if Aston Villa can make the deal a reality. They will need another attacker to support Ollie Watkins, and the Chelsea star will be the ideal fit.
The 24-year-old is well settled in the Premier League. He was able to make an immediate impact at the West Midlands Club.
Jackson is rarely a cheap acquisition, and Chelsea could demand a premium from him. It would be a difficult transaction to stop doing that.
