  • Unai Emery wants Maruko Sencio at Aston Villa
  • The villa set up to win the competition for Asensio’s signature

Aston Villa is on the brink of securing a permanent signature of Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain, with Premier League clubs preparing offers worth up to 15 million euros.

The numbers are expected to meet PSG’s demands, paving the way for Spanish midfielders to return to Villa Park after the successful loan spell last season. Catch off side.

The 29-year-old winger took part in Villa on loan later in the 2024/25 campaign, making an immediate impact under Manager Unai Emery.

In his short stint, Asensio scored eight goals and scored one assist, showing his versatility as well as his goalscoring quality.

Emery is a strong supporter of bringing the Spaniard back forever, and sees him as a player who can add creativity, experience and quality to the villa’s attack options.

Aston Villa has already signed a contract with Asensio on a three-year contract, indicating its long-term commitment to the players.

The move was made financially possible with the recent £40 million sale of Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle United. The movement effectively unlocked the opportunity for Villa to move decisively for Asensio.

From PSG’s side, the club is happy to say goodbye to the player. His current deal in Paris will take place until June 2026, but coach Luis Enrique has revealed that Asensio is not in line with his long-term plans. As a result, the League One champion is open to letting him leave if a proper bid arrives.

Other clubs were interested in the Spaniards who reached an agreement with PSG at the beginning of the summer, especially Fenerbafe. However, the Turkish side withdrew due to player wage demands and instead changed focus to Kelem Akturkogur.

Benfica also submitted a bid of 11 million euros, but their proposals were financially scarce and lacked the appeal of Premier League football.

Aston Villa appears to have won the race as negotiations enters the final stage.
