When Munoz wins in Indy, Rahm edges Nieman for the liv season title

Spain’s John Lahm won the second consecutive LIV golf season crown on Sunday, shooting an 11-under par 60 before losing the playoffs against Colombian Sebastian Munoz at Liv Golf Indianapolis.

Munoz birded the first playoff hole to beat Rahm in the indy title, after finishing at 191 under 22 under in all 54 holes for Chatham Hills in the final individual event of the Saudi Arabian series.

However, Lahm’s results led to a heartbreaking day of the season, following Chilean Joaquinnyman for the second year in a row at Season Points, as he did in 2024.

Rahm won the campaign title without winning the Liv event, and Neimann won titles this year in Adelaide, Singapore, Mexico City, Virginia and the UK.

Rahm won $18 million for winning the season crown, and Neimann won $8 million for running the season finish after sharing fourth in Indy in 196 with 66.

Munoz took a day’s lead against two-time winner Dustin Johnson and again birded in the 17th and 18th playoffs in regulation to win his first title since the 2019 PGA Tour Sanderson Farms Championship.

“I tried to take care of the business today,” Munoz said. “Of course, John shot 10 under so we went from one legend to another. It was pretty cool. It was a great experience. If you make a birdie twice in a row (18), you can’t explain it.

Munoz fought for the victory after firing 59 on Friday.

“I’m really proud of myself,” he said. “It took a long time six years after my last victory. It’s great now.”

Masters and US Open winner Rahm bursed six holes of his first 10 holes, earning a par 5 in 13th, and pulled away from Nyman after Bogie closed with four consecutive birdies at the age of 14.

Rahm stopped the approach at 15, set up a tap-in birdie, sinking a 6-foot birdie at 16, sinking a birdie at 17, then dropping an approach 18 inches from the hole for another tap-in birdie.

Even after Rahm ended, Neimann won his final title chance if Munoz forced the playoffs to win, and Johnson made a double bogey at the age of 18.

Munoz played his role, but Johnson scored a final third place, ending Neiman’s hopes.

– British people avoid drops –

England’s Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter finished in the top 48 of the season to avoid being dumped from LIV in 2026 and escape the relegation zone.

Westwood birded four of his first five holes, and Paulter birded four of his last five to avoid drops, each finishing at 201.

But Sweden’s Henrik Stenson would have seen him avoid being demoted at the expense of Poulter after missing a birdie putt on the 18th.

Nieman’s torque won the Indy Team title. This is their first victory since 2023, but Rahm’s Legion XIII holds the top seed for next week’s LIV Team Championship.
