Manchester United have completed a very exciting signing over the years as they are one of the biggest clubs in world football.
They don’t always work, but the Red Devils have signed over a significant share over the years, like Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria.
However, when it comes to the move that caught the most headlines and caused the most excitement among fans, it’s hard to see Cristiano Ronaldo’s past return in 2021.
Interestingly, if the report is believed, United are looking for another signature to that vein this summer.
I’m working on repeating Ronaldo
Last season was Manchester United’s worst in the Premier League era, but the club had an incredible summer on the move.
They seemed to be struggling to bring in their targets at some point, but the Red Devils now have a rethinking of the entire frontline with Brian Mbeumo, Mateus Cunya and Benjamin Sesco.
But instead of sitting down and being pleased with the effort, the club is meant to sign more, and now they see a deal that is very reminiscent of 2021 Ronaldo.
At least that’s according to a recent report from the Sun that United claims to be interested in David de Gere.
In fact, the report reveals that Ineos and Co are making “superficial calls” behind the scenes, and it is believed that the clause in the previous player’s current contract with Fiorentina will “leave for a relatively small amount.”
It’s unclear what the fee will be, but given Andre Onana’s struggle last year, United should pay it and bring the Spaniard back, just like Ronaldo.
Why is DeGia going to Ronaldo 2.0?
There are probably other signatures that can be compared, but there are a few reasons bringing DeGia this summer is very similar to Ronaldo’s move in 2021, especially when it comes to its position.
The first is obviously the fact that it will resign from an old player, but more than that, it will be a club that will bring back someone who has been one of the best players for many years.
During his stay in the Northwest, the “sparkly” Spaniard, known as Rio Ferdinand, made a staggering 545 appearances for the Red Devils, maintaining a 190 clean sheet, averaging 1.84 points per game, surpassing the fair share of the massive honors, including Premier League titles and one Premier League title, including Europa League.
Plus, like the former Real Madrid star, the shotstopper will be back from Serie A to Old Trafford, and he will almost certainly do so this season under the promise that he will win plenty of first-team football.
After all, one of the main reasons why this deal seems plausible is the fact that Andre Onana is a problem for the club and needs someone more reliable between the sticks as quickly as possible.

From almost every relevant metric from game-by-game saves, the former United star can play that role by looking at the numbers underlying both players last season, as they save percentages and even pass accuracy.
Ultimately, some may argue that United should not return for players they’ve sold in the past, but it’s clear that they need a more reliable goalkeeper this season.
So, just like Ronaldo four years ago, the Red Devils should bring the Spaniard back to Old Trafford.
