The plot was thickened with Newcastle United and Alexander Isaac Saga. The Swedish striker issued a statement Tuesday night, reaffirming his desire to leave the club, saying, “When the promise is broken and trust is lost, the relationship cannot last.” It’s easy to see him still moving away from St. James Park.
Of course, Magpies need to decide immediately whether to sell Star Striker or not. With less than two weeks remaining in the transfer period, deals to leave the club will need to move quickly, so Newcastle has time to sign a replacement.
They are constantly linked with new centre forwards and can move for someone in the coming days.
Newcastle striker target
Magpies have been linked to numerous centre forwards over the past few weeks and months. Wolf striker Jorgen Strand Larsen and Brentford’s Joan Wissa are touted as two of their major potential targets.
However, football insiders have reported that Paris Saint-Germain and Portuguese striker Goncaro Ramos are “hoping for that move” to St. James Park this summer, making clear options clear.
The Northeast Giants are “looking at him” for the Champions League winners in case the move comes true.
Certainly, the fact that the former Benfica star is very interested in the move is certainly a huge positive for Eddie Howe. This is a deal that could happen in the coming months, when “everything is combined.”
The first half of the window suggests that PSG can demand £56 million to sanction the transaction this summer.
Why Ramos is a good signing
Despite the limited opportunities for 24-year-old Ramos under the French capital Louis Enrique, he was impressed when he invaded his side. Ramos, dubbed “future star” of Statman Dave, certainly shows a glimpse of how deadly he is.
Portugal International, which won a World Cup hat trick last season in 2022, was equivalent to 46 games and 20 full games, equivalent to 1812 minutes. Meanwhile, he was able to bag 19 goals and support six more goals.
His influence was also felt in the first game of PSG’s 2025/26 campaign. Ramos scored a slow equalizer against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Super Cup. This shows that he is one of four touches in open play and can be clinically possible in front of goal.
Well, the word clinical can certainly be used to describe Isaac. He was an exception for Newcastle last season, finding the back of the net in just 34 Premier League matches, supporting six goals on top of that.
Certainly there was an incident in which he was the best centre forward on the top flight of the previous term. Last December, he called him “the best striker in the Premier League right now.”
He scored a lot of goals, so it’s easy to see why.
If Ramos moves to St James Park, Howe hopes he will be transformed into Isaac’s second coming. Even the way they each take the head goal above and pass the defenders late to get home, you can see the instincts they have in front of the goal.
There are statistics that suggest that players are very similar too. For example, Ramos averaged 0.85 goals and 0.51 goal-creating action per 90 minutes last season. In comparison, the Newcastle striker averaged 0.75 goals and 0.46 goal-creating actions per game.

£69 million is a big investment, but especially in the second half of the window, ISAK will need to be replaced if Newcastle leaves. There is evidence to suggest that Ramos is the best candidate to do it.
Given his scoring rate and some of the underlying statistics, he could be an Isaac replacement for Newcastle’s dream. At the very least, signing a player who wants to represent the club is a big pull for the Magpie.
