Chelsea is reportedly in talks with Villarreal to sell Portuguese defender Renato Veiga for around 30 million euros.
According to Fabrizio Romano on the X official page, the 22-year-old agreed to personal terms with Villarreal.
Veiga only joined Chelsea last summer, but quickly left Bruce in January for a loan move to Juventus.
Following Romano’s post below, it appears that we are approaching Veiga, which is leaving the Stamford Bridge forever, where negotiations with Villarreal are underway…
Romano said:Villarreal has agreed to personal terms with Renato Veiga! The meeting with Chelsea is on track. As revealed exclusively last week, the Spanish club is negotiating to agree to terms as well #CFC. Current proposal: In addition to 24 million euros, we are approaching a package of 30 million euros. ”
Renato Veiga is set to seal off a quick departure from Chelsea
Some Chelsea fans may be worried about letting Veiga go straight away after he looked like a decent prospect when he first arrived.
It’s easy to imagine Veiga playing some role in Enzo Maresca’s team over a long season, allowing him to play center back, left back or defensive midfield.
Still, CFC seems to prefer to cash in with Veiga, so perhaps they calculated there are other options that could do the job, or otherwise they would reinvest the fees from his sales with more signatures in that area of their squad.
The recent serious injuries suffered by Levi Colwill certainly meant that Chelsea can bolster with a more defensive signature as Wesley Fofana was not at her best during her time in West London due to ongoing fitness issues.
Veiga was previously linked to Bayern Munich by German journalist Christian Falk.
