Carlos Alcaraz’s US Open Haircut Spark Mixed Review

Perhaps one of the biggest stories on the second day of the US opening came from outside the hard court. Carlos Alcaraz gets a fresh haircut before his first round match, and reviews mix.

Alcaraz had his regular haircut on Saturday in the most recent open preview. However, when he arrived at practice court on Monday, the head of his hair was missing and replaced by a buzz cut.

Their appearance quickly went viral, attracting the attention of golf star Rory McIlroy. Rory McIlroy immediately felt the cut while touching Alcaraz’s head and visiting with the Spaniard. McIlroy then asked:

“I got the haircut I struggled with,” Alcaraz explained to McIlroy. “That means I had to start fresh.”

The five-time major winner tells Alcaraz he likes it and calls it “looks good.” American tennis star Francistiá Four thought that wasn’t the case – and did not hide his opinion on his best friend’s buzz cut.

After winning his own first round match at Yoshihito Nishioka, Tierfoe approached Alkaraz and stared at Alkaraz’s distrust. He then called the haircut “terrifying.”

“It’s terrible. It’s definitely awful. That’s my guy,” joking Tiafoe. “Funny, I saw him and I was like, ‘I think you’re aerodynamic.’ ”

“I don’t know who told him to do that, but it’s awful. From people who are scattered all week a week, or from people who take pride in a good haircut,” added Teafo. “But after all, it’s Carlos and that’s my guy. But he needs to go with me. He certainly needs to go with me.”

Second-seeded Alcaraz faces American Riley Opelka in the first round on Monday, and if Tierfoe is rated correctly, Alcaraz could be faster in court than ever.
