According to Athletic, Wolverhampton’s Wanderers remain determined to protect striker Jorgen Strand Larsen despite strong and enduring interest from Newcastle United.

Magpies have recently returned with an improved bid worth £55 million, but the wolves quickly rejected the offer, claiming Norway International was not selling.

25-year-old Strand Larsen has become one of the wolves’ most influential players since his arrival from Celta Vigo. The powerful forward was impressed by the quality of his goalscoring and his physical presence.

He scored 14 Premier League goals for the Wolves last season.

The wolves see him as the centre of their projects and are reluctant to sanction the departures late in the transfer window, especially when it is difficult to find an exchange.

Strand Larsen himself is not actively upset due to his travels from Molineux, but the athletic reports that he is keen on the opportunity to join Newcastle.

The players are understood to be excited about the prospect of playing Champions League football and competing in the top end of the Premier League. This is something Newcastle can offer realistically in the future.

Nevertheless, he has not forced the issue, respecting the wolf’s stance and continuing his full commitment to the pitch.

The pursuit of the striker is one of the key priorities of Eddie Howe and his team’s window final day.

The future of Alexander Isaac is a subject of constant speculation as the striker revealed he is not interested in playing for Magpies again and is excited about his move to Liverpool.

Strandlersen is considered a potential player to replace Isaac at St. James Park.

But the wolf is digging its heels. The £55 million rejection is determined and it is expected that the Norwegians will remain in place unless Newcastle returns with an extraordinary offer.
