Junior Players: Charlie Woods and Miles Russell team up at Junior Am

It was the day before the first round of the Junior Player Championship, with one strong duo in the same cart. Russell and Charlie Woods, the world’s number one mile.

Charlie Woods has surpassed several strokes behind the pace after his first round at the 2025 Junior Championships at TPC Sawgrass at Ponte Vedre Beach.

Woods, a junior at Benjamin School and son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, shot four over 76 in the first round of the Junior Player Championship on August 29th.

Woods, who was teeed off in the middle of the morning, scored a 40 on the front nine and shot a 40 with only a bogey bogey start and birdie and three pars. He got better after the turn, making only two bogeys and shot 36 with a back nine, including dropping shots on the 18th.

Woods is seven shots from the lead held at the clubhouse by Jacksonville Beach native Miles Russell. He shot a 4-under 68 in the first round. He is associated with Nicholas Logis. Nicholas Logis shot 68 on the leaderboard.

Since 2007, the best male amateurs under the age of 19 have played at home in the PGA Tour Player Championship. Russell won the event in 2023 at age 14 and was the youngest winner ever.
