Liverpool has now submitted an offer to sign Crystal Palace defender Mark Guech.
According to athletics David Ornstein, they filed an offer of around £35 million without a bonus to the 25-year-old Central Defender. It will be interesting to see if Crystal Palace is willing to accept the offer.
Marc Guehi is looking for an exit
The defender is the final year of his contract and he wants to move on. He decided not to sign an extension with the London Club. Crystal Palace is under pressure this summer to sanction his departure. They can’t afford to lose his quality players on a free transfer next summer.
Liverpool will use this situation to aim to sign Guehi in a reasonable transaction.
Liverpool can use Guehi
Liverpool has been extremely vulnerable defensively for the past 12 months and needs to be improved in that area of the beach. Ibrahima Konate in particular has been extremely overwhelmed this season. Guehi’s arrival was ideal and he was able to compete with the French international for the starting position alongside Virgil Van Dijk.
By competing more places, Liverpool will help improve as a team. They are aiming to compete for major trophies this season, and players like Guehi could prove to be a great option.
The 25-year-old has already proven himself in the Premier League and he is undoubtedly one of the best central defenders in the country right now. Signing him for £35 million represents a great business for Liverpool.
Meanwhile, the opportunity to participate in the Premier League champions is also very appealing to defenders. It was a big step in his career and he can fight with them for a big trophy. This is the right time for him to take on new challenges in his career.
