Manchester United failed to sign Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid after making a slow move for him.
They wanted to lend to the 25-year-old England International, but the Spanish outfit wouldn’t sanction his departure, according to Ben Jacobs. Gallagher will continue with the Spanish club this season.
Conor Gallagher would have been a quality signature
Gallagher has linked his return to the Premier League in recent weeks, and the move to Manchester United may have been interesting. Manchester United certainly needed more quality and depth in the middle of the park, and England International would have been a quality acquisition.
He showed his abilities in the Premier League with Chelsea and Crystal Palace. There’s no doubt he’ll be enough for Manchester United, and he’d have physicality, defensive covering and drive to the side.
Man United still lacks midfield and defense
Manchester United have done well this summer to improve their offensive forces, but the midfield and defense still need more quality. It will be interesting to see if you can survive the season with the options at your current level. Their height clubs are expected to fight for the trophy and push the finish in the top four. They were very disappointing last season, finishing in the lower half of the league table.
Reuben Amorim has put a lot of pressure on him to turn things around, and it remains to be seen whether he will make the most of his current team. Manchester United are off to a mediocre start to their Premier League campaign, aiming to bounce back hard in the coming weeks.
