Liverpool has approached an alternative to Premier League player Mark Guech.
After failing Liverpool’s move, Guehee was “very unhappy”
The Reds completed a fantastic summer transfer window by signing Newcastle United’s Alexander Isaac with a record fee of £125 million, but that could have been even better.
Liverpool also snapped up Guech and appeared to agree to a long-term move with the British. Director Oliver Glasner reportedly threatened to quit if the 25-year-old was sold to the Reds. The Eagles don’t have enough centre-back depth without him.
According to journalist Ed Aaron, Guehi was considered “very unhappy” in the situation, which led to an ugly situation. That allows him to leave with a free transfer.
If Liverpool feels they no longer have a chance to sign Guehi, they will need to see the various defenders they see ahead, and feel that another Premier League player is linked to their move to Anfield.
Liverpool approaches Nathan Collins
According to I caught an offsideLiverpool has approached Brentford’s captain Nathan Collins, which could be seen as another option for him to move forward. It is worth highlighting that no formal offers have been filed, but the Premier League champions see the £43 million rated Irishman as “on a list of candidates for defensive targets.”
Collins was a solid signature for Liverpool, impressed as both a performer and leader at Brentford, and was welcomed with Thomas Frank working with him.
“He can drive the ball out of defense and has the calmness to find the right passes during build-up plays. His character is really good. We have the character fits our culture. I have no doubt about it. I see leadership potential at Nathan.
But with tribute to the Brentford skipper, Guehi still stands out as a major Liverpool option, whether in January or after. He will become one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League and will not have a chance to start for England at the World Cup next summer.
However, Collins could be a sensible alternative, and he is a year younger than Guehi, allowing Arne Slot to take him at a good age and turn him into an even more terrifying all-round defender.
