NEW YORK – Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul withdraw from the US Davis Cup team game due to injuries next weekend, with the Americans nominated three alternatives on Thursday.

Reilly Opelka, Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek were added to the second round match on September 12-13 against the Czech Republic in Delray Beach, Florida. They join Taylor Fritz and Francis Tiafoe on the team.

Sixth-placed Shelton had to stop playing during his third match at the US Open due to pain in his left shoulder. Ranked 14th, Paul was eliminated in the same round in five sets by Alexander Babrik and appeared to suffer from abdominal injury.

Opelca lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the first round. Ram and Krajicek both rank first in doubles.

The Best Five Match features two singles on the first day, followed by doubles and potentially two singles on the second day. Three wins from the first team will advance to the Davis Cup Final 8 from November 18-23rd in Bologna, Italy.
