Former Liverpool and Arsenal midfielder Alex Oklade Chamberlen has been linked to his return to the Premier League.
The 32-year-old midfielder is now a free agent after leaving Besiktas, a Turkish outfit. He is thought to be on the radar of multiple clubs, and it will be interesting to see where he goes.
According to football insiders, Leeds United are keen to secure his signature. They can use more quality and depth in the middle of the park, and the 32-year-old could be a useful acquisition. Signing him on a free transfer is a risk-free move for the club.
Leeds has secured promotion to the Premier League and if they want to do well, they need more quality and depth on the side. Adding experienced players like Oxlade-Chamberlain can prove to be a wise decision.
He plays for a big club and knows what it takes to compete at the highest level. He won the UEFA Champions League and Premier League titles during his time at Liverpool. His winning experience could prove to be invaluable for Leeds as well.
Leeds is keen on the former Liverpool star
“Oxlade-Chamberlain is also available,” Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider.
“A lot of clubs have seen him.
“He has an incredible resume and played for Arsenal and Liverpool, and he has been in the Champions League and a Premier League winner since his days at Liverpool.
“Now that he has left Besiktas, the club is on guard for his availability.
“There is interest from clubs across the Premier League, Championships and Europe, including Leeds and Birmingham.
“So I’m sure he’s ready to return to England in a few years. And I think there’s a move in his future soon.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain could make Leeds moves flashy
The opportunity to return to the Premier League is extremely exciting for experienced midfielders. If he is versatile enough to slot into multiple roles, and can become the ideal utility man for Leeds United, he hopes he can get the deal done.
They are big clubs and players may be drawn to the idea of joining them if they can provide him with a guarantee of the game. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
