  • Why Kobbie Mainoo isn’t starting for Man Utd
  • Why should Reuben Amorim change his male UTD formation?

Manchester United head coach Reuben Amorim would have been relieved after entering an international break from behind a last minute winner with Premier League Burnley.

The Red Devils scored one point from the first two games of the Division and lost to League 2 Grimsby in the League Cup before Bruno Fernandez’s final gasp penalty secured all three points at Old Trafford against Clarett.

It’s far from the perfect start to the campaign, winning one in four matches in every tournament, and there was debate over the manager’s call on Cobby Mine’s game time.

Why Kobbie Mainoo isn’t starting for Man Utd

England International has not started any of the club’s three games in the Premier League. He also came out of the bench with just one of those games. This was a 3-2 victory over Burnley.

Mainoo finds himself on the bench as the signatures of MaTeus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo moved Fernandez to the mid-center role alongside Casemiro.

This led to the 20-year-old academy graduate graduating without team space due to the 3-4-2-1 setup that Amorim has supported throughout his previous club time.

The above quote from the manager of the graphics explains why Mainoo started in the Premier League. Because he sees him as a captain’s replacement, not as a substitute for Casemiro or Manuel Ugarte.

Amorim was able to find a way to include the English maestro in the starting lineup, but by eventually changing his formation from 3-4-2-1 to 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1.

Why should Reuben Amorim change his male UTD formation?

The Portuguese head coach has been criticized in one quarter because of his inflexibility in his formation. When looking at his record in the Premier League, it’s not difficult to understand why he was.

Statistics through the Transfer Market

As you can see from the table above, Amorim lost 15 of his 30 matches he handled the club in the division, winning just eight.

This makes Mainoo a slot in mid-3 that suits him, with Casemiro or Ugarte competing in the roles of 6th and Mainoo, Fernandes and Mount in the roles of second number eight.

To promote this change in formation, Amorim must mercilessly throw away Luke Show from the starting lineup. Because you need to remove one of the three centrebacks and put in another central midfielder.

The show, which earns £150,000 per week, has not attracted much attention in three starts this quarter in the Premier League, lost 56% of duels, and doesn’t have one intercept per sofa score, making it a natural centre-back.

The British defender, who was described as “disastrous” by podcaster Adam Joseph earlier this year, could be dropped on the bench to become a backup for Patrick Dorg at left back.

Given that Fernandez is Manchester United’s amulet and captain, it seems unlikely that Mine’s career will be revived at Old Trafford unless Amorim changes this system.

This allows Fernandez to move further, with Mateus Cunha, Amado Diallo and Brian Mbeumo competing in a wide area, affecting the final third of the match.

So this is a move that can work for Minee by helping Amorim finally put together the victory for the best of the team and after a miserable time in Manchester, he is caught up in the best role that consistently affects the game.
