Liverpool defender Ibrahima Conate has linked his move from the club, and Real Madrid is interested in him.
The 26-year-old is the final year of his contract with the Premier League champion and has not signed him. If Liverpool fails to agree to a new contract with a player, they may be under pressure to sell the player in January. They wouldn’t want to lose a top-class player like him on a free transfer next summer.
Ibrahima Konate jokes about Real Madrid’s interest
The player was asked about potential interest from Real Madrid during the international break, and he joked that French international teammate Killian Mbappe was constantly calling him on the move.
“Yes, Kylian Mbappe calls me every two hours,” Konate said via football Espana.
It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can convince players to sign a new deal with them. He is one of their best players and losing him would be a blow to the club. Liverpool has already had an overhaul this summer, bringing in multiple players. They now aim to stabilize their team and maintain important players in the club.
Liverpool must maintain conate
Once Virgil Van Dijk enters the Twilight stage of his career, they will have to begin plans for the future, and Konate could become the next leader in their defense force. French International is a quality player and there is no doubt that he will greatly improve Real Madrid. However, Liverpool must do everything with their strength to protect him.
They want to regularly fight for large trophies and need to embrace the best players. Liverpool has been in contract talks with players for the past few months, but the parties have yet to reach an agreement.
