Critics believe Man United took a big risk with his summer signature

Man United made four important signatures in the summer, with Mateus Cunha, Brian Mbemo, Benjamin Sesco and Senne Lammens all arrived at Old Trafford. However, they have been asked whether these additions are sufficient to turn their fortunes around since last season.

Lammens will be Man United’s new starting goalkeeper, with Andre Onana set out for Trabzonspor and Altay Bayindir as the backup. The 23-year-old is highly respected at Old Trafford, but not everyone believes he is a good signature.

Speaking to ESPN (via TeamTalk), Craig Burley has questioned Man United’s decision to sign Lammens, saying he believes the wrong goalkeeper target is signed.

“(Onana) When he was in Italy, I thought he went in and had a Schmeitzel-style aura. He was bossing about Harry Maguire and he went to him.

“If this young young man from Belgium comes in and flapping his wings here and there, that’s going to be confused, right?

“The youngsters who come in need to communicate, marshall the back four, put the ball at their feet, make saves, give authority and make statements when the team is rattling the ball into the box.

“He’s going to sink or swim. They went on the way to the Villa Martinez. I think it was the perfect scenario as he was arrogant. But they’ve gone on other routes again.

It remains to be seen how Runmens rides at Man United, but he certainly expects better performances than Onana and Bay Indil have over the past few seasons.
