Manchester United is one of the clubs that has bolstered Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton’s January transfer window move.
Liverpool and Chelsea are also enthusiastic about England International, and you can find out more in my daily briefing column here.
For Man UTD, it’s clear that the new midfielder will be a priority in the near future as Brighton’s Carlos Balaba tried to sign at the end of the summer.
Sources have confirmed Wharton is also on the Red Devils list, with Reuben Amorim being a huge 21-year-old fan.
What sources said about Man United’s Adam Wharton pursuit of transfer
My source this morning said, “Look at Wharton as the ideal alternative to Casemiro, which is expected to leave at the end of the season.
“His ability to direct play from the Deep fits perfectly with Reuben Amorim’s tactical setup. They made an approach in the summer, but the palace completely refused it.”
There was late interest in Wharton towards the end of the summer window, but he would have cost him £100 million at that point.
In January, Wharton could be keen to move to a club that plays in Europe to raise World Cup hopes in England, which would cost around £60 million.
Adam Wharton is ideal for Man United
Wharton has quality to reach the highest level, and it would be interesting to see him in a United shirt.
Obviously, MUFC is not where they want it now, but signatures like Wharton are transformative for them and can give Amorim a midfield playmaker from Deep, which he needs very much.
Wharton’s playing style was reminiscent of United legend Michael Carrick, and was equally key to helping the club return to success.
