With a 30-52 record in 2024-25, the Raptors finished 11th out of 15 teams in the Eastern Conference. They missed the playoffs and could change completely this offseason.

NBA insider Jake Fisher reported that Toronto was “happy” to say goodbye to RJ Barrett or Immanuel Quickly for a “critical roster upgrade.” He further noted that if the Raptors acquire Kevin Durant in return, they would be willing to add Jacob Poertre to the deal. What will the Raptors move this offseason?

At the 2023-24 trade deadline, the Raptors parted ways with two-way threat OG anunoby. In return, the team acquired RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickkey and the 2024 second round pick. The 2024-25 season was Barrett and was Quickly’s first full year with the Raptors. According to NBA insider Jake Fisher, Toronto is about to say goodbye to Barrett and Quikcley this offseason. They are looking for “important roster upgrades” in return.

Fischer noted that the Raptors could demonstrate their willingness to add Jacob Poertre to their trade package. That’s only if Kevin Durant has been acquired. The NBA Insider also said Toronto could try to trade the #9 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Fisher said of all the teams that chose the lottery, the Raptors are most likely to trade. There is evidence that the Raptors want to compete as quickly as they do next season. To do this, they need to acquire Winno’s talent.

If Durant is not available, the Raptors could still be involved in that deal as a third or fourth team. This often happens in today’s NBA with salary cap limits. Being a facilitator team could potentially fit the Raptors’ needs of getting a “critical roster upgrade.” The news points to changes in the Raptors roster ahead of the 2025-26 season.
