When Enzo Maresca took over at Chelsea, there was clear hope that a major change was coming. Some players are embracing a new era. Unfortunately, others are left behind.
In his latest statement, Mareska pulled out the line under the future of Axel Disaj and Raheem Sterling, confirming that neither player will “not return” to Chelsea’s first team setup.
Both Disasi and Sterling are some of the players who are called Chelsea’s “Bomb Squad” exiles, unable to secure movement during the recent transfer window and are now called players who are training separately from their first team.
Enzo Maresca did not engrave his words about Sterling and the disaster
They do so on different pitches, at different times, on pitches where interactions with the core team are either limited or not at all. Maresca clearly stated his intentions and said he hasn’t seen either since the season began.
Maresca said about the future of the two Chelsea players, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
“There’s no way to go back to our team for Axel Disasi and Raheem Sterling.”
In the case of Disasi, a loan offer was reported from the Premier League club and there was interest overseas, but he declined a move to both West Ham and Bournemouth.
He clearly wanted to return to Monaco. There he played before, where he has a strong emotional connection. Nevertheless, none of these options are embodied in the way that leads to him being part of Maresca’s plan.
Meanwhile, Sterling spent an equally difficult time despite public speculation about clubs of interest and potential transfers, but nothing happened before the deadline.
Chelsea boss showed a ruthless mentality
Maresca appears to be committed to building a clear core team and moving away from Fringe players.
Training separation sends a strong message about professionalism, expectations, and squad unification.
It also suggests that Chelsea willing to carry the financial burden of the contract when necessary.
