Man United is already thinking about possible transfer targets for 2026, one of them could be stolen from under Man City’s nose.

Denzel Dumfries has been confirmed to be on the Man City radar, but he has also been attracting interest from his neighbor, Man United. And while the two clubs are currently on the course to face-to-face for his signature, the Old Trafford side may have a slight advantage.

According to a football insider, Pete O’Rourke revealed that Man City may not be entirely sure of Dumfries because of his age.

“City has seen Dumfries and Man United has been strong bond with him over the years, but he remains at Inter Milan. He is a top player and he has proven to be the highest level for the club and the country, but he is currently 29 years old, which may be a concern for Man City about his age.

“He’s a top player and perhaps a real offensive fullback who is better off moving forward than he’s defensive, and he’s suited to Man City.

“He’s on a contract until 2028 so there’s a reasonable fee to kick him out, but he’s acknowledging that he’s open to travel to the Premier League, so that would be considered a ‘come and get me’ plea.

It remains to be seen whether Dumfries will move to the Premier League in 2026. If so, Manchester appears to be his most likely destination.
