Rothwell was brought to Leeds on a loan agreement last season and was not initially considered a central figure in the promotion. Nevertheless, Rothwell left Leeds after his loan agreement expired.
He had accepted to sign permanently, but Leeds decided to move for other options, and Rothwell ended up moving to the Rangers in Scotland.
