East Peoria alum Connor Watson is quickly adapting to college golf.
Ilinois Central College freshmen set the school’s record in a round of 8 under par 63 on Monday at the Franklin County Country Club in West Frankfort, Illinois. He had the Eagles on two of the last three holes, so the ICC surpassed the six-team field with 18 strokes.
“Connor is a special and relentless competitor this afternoon,” ICC director Sean Kennedy said in a social media post. “…It was Connor’s first college medalist championship, but I’m confident in predicting it won’t be his last.”
Watson is currently the two-time Journal Star Golfer of the Year at East Peoria Junior College. He joined the team that finished second in the 2024 NJCAA Division II National Tournament under Kennedy.
Watson’s round came weeks after teammate Trey Bocker set the school’s mark in round 64 at Park Hills Golf Course in Freeport on August 22.
