  • New Deal for Robertson?
  • Keeping Andrew Robertson is useful

Andrew Robertson has been linked to a move away from Liverpool in recent months, but they have now managed to offer him a new deal.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool is exploring a potential new contract for the 31-year-old defender. He was heavily linked with the exit during the summer transfer period, but Scottish International stayed.

New Deal for Robertson?

O’Rourke said: “I think Liverpool wants to protect Andy Robertson with a new contract being explored.

Liverpool signed Milos Kerquez as an alternative earlier this summer. Hungary is the best talent, but he has so far been unable to adapt to his new environment. His performance is mediocre and Liverpool may need to bank Robertson’s experience and leadership for now.

The 31-year-old will become a free agent at the end of the season, but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will offer him an extension. The opportunity to continue being a Premier League champion could tempt defenders.

He is the club’s vice captain and a fan favorite. He has been a reliable performer at the club for many years. While he has certainly regressed over the past 12 months, he remains a high quality player that could be extremely useful on the pitch.

Keeping him at the club for another season may not be a bad idea. He coached the Hungarian defender and was able to allow him to grow at his own pace.

It is still unclear how things will develop over the next few weeks. Liverpool consistently wants to compete for key trophies, and experience is required along with quality. Robertson is a valuable option for them when they stay at the club.
