  • Gabriel Martinelli changed the game for Arsenal
  • Martinelli wants a starter role at the club

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli was on the scoresheet again, but his slow contributions were not enough to secure all three points on Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Brazilian attacker, who came out of the bench, shared his thoughts with the BBC match the day after the match, admitting that the team was disappointed that they didn’t win, while they were happy to score.

Martinelli also mentioned how he wants to enjoy more play time instead of being happy as an alternative.

After the match, Martinelli admitted that Arsenal did enough to win, but was unlucky at the critical moment.

“Of course we wanted to win the game,” he said. “We created a lot of opportunities during the game and I think we were a bit unlucky at certain moments. We are happy with the goal, but we didn’t want to draw the game.

Despite creating multiple opportunities, Arsenal was unable to find the killer’s instinct in front of the goal. Martinelli’s strike gave them hope, but it wasn’t enough to just give their favor to the outcome.

The Brazilian quickly praised his teammate for his assist.

“I saw EBS (Eberechi Eze) get the ball and tried to make eye contact with him. After the ball opened, I was a great ball from him.

The 23-year-old has repeatedly had full confidence in his manager, but also discussed the challenge of constantly starting a match under Arteta.

“I work in those moments. I leave (choice) for Gaffer. He knows what he’s doing. I will do my best to help this football club. Of course, I don’t want to be on the bench.

Martinelli’s goal saved the point, but his words reflect the ambitions and standards within the Arsenal camp.

For him and his teammates, the draw is not enough, especially in seasons when the margins at the top of the table are thin razor seasons.

The Brazilian remains determined to turn the cameo into a consistent start, and if his hunger matches the rest of the team, Arsenal will continue to push hard into the pursuit of silverware.
