Aston Villa completed the signing of Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho during the summer transfer period.

They signed Elliott on loan, obliged to buy players at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Sancho has been signed on loan for the season from Manchester United.

Former Manchester United star Owen Hargreaves believes Monki took off her masterstroke before she left. The two signs were his last signs before leaving the club, and Hargreaves believes they can have a lasting impact.

Monki is now leaving the club and he will be replaced by Roberto Olabe.

Owen Hargreaves welcomes Harvey Elliott and Jadon Sancho

“Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio were great for this Aston Villa team,” said Hargreaves of TNT Sports.

“I think Harvey Elliott will be as good a player as Martin Odegard in the end.

“Technically, I think he’s great. He obviously had no opportunity in Liverpool.

“Obviously Jadon, he’s up and down, but the talent is there,” added Hargreaves.

“UNAI is a master who makes the most of players who may have struggled elsewhere.

“It was a master stroke late in the window and helped two really good technicians.”

It will be interesting to see if Elliott and Sancho can help improve their team by holding back their regular starting spot at Aston Villa this season. There is no doubt that both players have the highest level of quality to compete. They have shown it in the past, and they will be desperate to get their careers back on track with regular football.

Aston Villa has been extremely poor this season and they aim to bounce back hard. They certainly hope that new signatures can make marks soon.
