Newcastle manager Eddie Howe could lose another key player in 2026.
Newcastle lost Alexander Isaac in the summer, and there is a possibility that star players will continue to leave St. James Park in the future. Many Eddie Howe’s teams have been gathering speculation about a transfer in recent years, one of which is Bruno Guimares.
Guimares has been an essential player for Newcastle since joining Lyon in 2022. During that period, it was believed that many clubs would be interested in signing him, among them Man City.
Bruno Guimarès is not planning to join Man City
However, Newcastle never had any plans to sell Guimarèe. According to a football insider, Pete O’Rourke has revealed that the player is equally eager to stay at St. James Park in the near future.
“Bruno was a player on the Man City radar for a while. It was a summer inquiry, not a company or official bids, etc. Guimarès showed that he was definitely not interested in selling him in Newcastle and Newcastle and still has plans to remain.
“He is the captain of Newcastle and how important the role he plays at St. James Park is, and he is on a contract until 2028. Newcastle often focuses on Alexander Isaac Transfer Saga over the summer and doesn’t want to lose any star players.”
Guimares never showed his desire to leave Newcastle, where he appears to be very calm. And while it would be surprising that this will change, if they have a poor 2025-26 season, it could include missing out on qualifications for the Champions League. But even so, there is no indication that his stance will change, even if this happens.
